Cyberterrorism and Religious Fundamentalism: New Challenges for Europe in the Age of Universal Internet Access

Digital technology is now a fundamental and indispensable component of daily life. While the great opportunities offered by cyberspace are undoubted, growing security challenges threats it brings should not be overlooked. Cyberspace, its nature transnational elusive regarding forms control, useful to terrorism because allows only propaganda fundamentalist doctrines but also creation manipulation information; apology dissemination information instrumental processes radicalisation; use devices capable transversally violating technical virtual infrastructures that critical nations; operational planning terrorist activities; recruitment, financing, training recruits. The so-called “new terrorism”, religiously motivated, makes extensive digital tool. After an excursus concerning religious groups transformation motivated terrorism, this paper focuses on analysis European legal response need for global shared action.
